The Estonian-Finnish exhibition “The Bridge: Greetings from Two Republics” ends with a festive concert “Viro täyttää 100” (“Estonia Becomes 100”).

The concert is a side programme of the exhibition “The Bridge” and features Estonian top musicians Virgo Veldi (saxophone) and Sigrid Kuulmann-Martin (violin), Andreas Lend (cello) and Irina Zahharenkova (piano) from the piano trio Hemeīs.

Virgo Veldi is a beloved saxophonist who has won prizes and has collaborated with the most renowned conductors in Estonia. Piano trio Hemeīs was born at the Winter Festival in 2017. The trio includes three prominent Estonian musicians: Sigrid Kuulmann-Martin (violin), Andreas Lend (cello) and Irina Zahharenkova (piano).

Sigrid Kuulmann-Martin is a violinist who is the laureate of the Heino Eller International Violin Competition and several other competitions. She has received recognition for performing the works of Estonian composers, including the works of Tubin, and she is the first performer of several contemporary works in Estonia.

Cellist Andreas Lend has successfully participated and won prizes in several competitions. He won the prestigious The International Holland Music Session summer academy scholarship in 2009 and 2010 and he was given the PLMF Music Trust award Young Musician 2011.

Irina Zahharenkova is an acclaimed pianist and harpsichordist who has won prizes from international piano competitions.

The exhibition “The Bridge” remains open at Helsinki City Gallery Virka until the 25th of February.
