Children’s and youth art gallery Deák17 organizes a series of events entitled ‘World Travelers Club’ with the aim of introducing some new and interesting national cultures each month.
Fairy tales, animations, theatrical performances, children’s games and joint conversations help children who are participating in the programme familiarize themselves with new cultures and broaden their horizons.
The first meeting of the autumn season is focusing on Estonia. Kids are talked about Estonian nature, cities, customs and the lives of Estonian children. A selection of puppet animations is shown, introducing adventures of one of the Estonian children’s favourite – Mirjam. One can also try out their handicraft skills: birds and animals characteristic to Estonia are made, including a barn swallow and a flying squirrel, a ribbon is entwined, traditional Estonian patterns are printed on the textiles, and Estonian islands are sculpted.
The door of the World Travelers Club is open to anyone who wants to learn about new cultures. The programme invites children from the hosting nationality to present genuine traditional games that they have learned from their parents and grandparents.
Estonia is introduced and Estonian mood is created with the help of Estonian Institute in Hungary.
