On August 21–27, 2017, the 13th poetry festival Runokuu will be held in Helsinki. The theme of this year’s edition is love. Estonia is represented by the poet Veronika Kivisilla.

Veronika Kivisilla will perform at the festival’s international Poetry Breakfast event alongside with poets and spoken word artists from Great Britain and Finland.

Veronika Kivisilla works as a project manager at the Estonian Writers’ Union. She has compiled and written textbooks and children’s songbooks, edited and translated literature, and published three books of poetry: Dear Calendar (2011), Veronica officinalis (2012) and Cantus Firmus (2015).
Veronika Kivisilla’s Cantus Firmus was also nominated for the Estonian Cultural Endowment poetry prize. In the spring of 2017, she performed at Berlin’s Estonian Cultural Days and at the London Book Fair.

Together with Veronika Kivisilla, the translator of her work, Raija Hämäläinen will perform in Helsinki. The first Finnish translations of Veronika Kivisilla’s poetry will be published this fall in the Estonian Institute’s anthology series Nippernaati.
