2018 is the European Year of Cultural Heritage. To celebrate this, the Estonian Institute in Hungary publishes the information booklet “Estonian Heritage” in Hungarian. The booklet introduces through various fields the relics, objects and manifestations of the past as well as the living tradition that the person who comes to Estonia can come across. In addition, the film “Taarka” will be screened, which serves as an introduction to the concerts of Verska naase’ on June 9 and 10.

When young Taarka plays the frog and prince game with her friend Vasso and kisses him, her destiny is already being changed – Taarka’s father has gambled away all his money and his daughter’s silver jewelry in the tavern. Taarka has a great singing talent but since she is poor and has dark complexion her boyfriend Vasso is told not to marry her. When Taarka gives birth to twins, Vasso is nowhere to be seen. The concert in Budapest is part of the programme of the festival “Cultural Heritage Month” organized by Hungarian Cluster of EUNIC.
