15.06.2019 – 15.06.2019

This year marks 800 years since the first mention of Tallinn, and the Battle of Lyndanisse, which gave the Danes their flag – Dannebrog.

To commemorate the event, the Estonian Institute in collaboration with Tallinn City Museum published a book, full of interesting articles and striking visuals that help remember the good old times, as well as offer an overview of Danish-Estonian relations today.

The authors of texts in the book are Ivar Leimus, Thomas Lyngby, Ain Mäesalu, Per Seesko, Mette Skougaard, students of Scandinavian Studies at the University of Tartu (Helen Liiver, Mari-Liis Schmidt and Maarja-Helen Tamm) and the Estonian Institute. The book’s beautiful design and vivid illustrations are by Moonika Maidre.

The book is available both in English and Estonian, and it will be launched on 15 June 2019 in Kiek in de Kök museum, during the opening of the Dannebrog and Estonia 1219-2019 exhibition. The exhibition will be opened by HM The Queen Margarethe II of Denmark.
