The spring season of the club series of Estonian music is opened by magic Maarja Nuut.

  • Maarja Nuut is a violinist and singer, whose music creates a layered soundscape in a space where minimalism and experimental music meet with traditional dance tracks, songs, stories, and live-looping.In her creation, she is looking for the balance between alert and relaxed state like a cat ready to pounce at any moment.

Maarja Nuut: “This state is an impulse, out of which music is born and a wish to prolong the being in the moment, focusing, which changes my glance, my ear, and my way of perception. Then it is always “now” and the old instrumental pieces are as fresh as the improvisation born on spot.”

That is how her tracks are born, given an intimate sound by violins, voice, and electronics.

Maarja Nuut, who recently earned the title of the Best Estonian Female Singer, is the first Estonian artist to have played in the main programme of the prestigious world music event “WOMEX” and has given concerts in the US, Canada, and many sites in Europe over the last couple of years. Maarja Nuut’s second album “Une meeles” (“In the Sleep’s Mind”), which came out in spring 2016, was received very well by critics and won the title of the Ethno Album of the Year.
